Aloha! The lava is the closest its been to the sea since early January 2012. The leading edge of the eastern lobe is advancing toward Kalapana as of now. The lava flow front is just a mere 1/2 mi away from hitting the ocean. Surface flows and outbreaks were also view-able on the Pulama Pali near the newly formed lava tube Currently the Tilt meter is reading DI Inflation so the volcano is alive and pumping lets hope the volume continues and we can once again have an ocean entry!

We are visiting in November this year and are wondering if you think it will reach the ocean by then?
we sure can hope so
Currently Lava flows are land based but the views from the water have been great. We have 2 visible flows right now from the boat the closest is less than 1 mile away as of today. We are operating our sunset tours at 5pm m,w,f, sundays currently since the lava views have been the best at the dusk time lately.
